Why do we as a church highlight each year the Armed Forces’ Day? Why is it important for us to do so?

As Christians we are told to give honour to those who deserve it.  This spirit of gratitude is so often lacking today, but it has been gratifying to have seen it’s resurgence during the Lockdown period when the public have on mass shown their gratitude towards the NHS and the care workers of the UK. “Clap for our Carers
Thursday’s and rainbow featuring posters must have been an encouragement and help to the morale of these extremely hard working men and women.

Surly the same gratitude needs to be shown to those brave men and women who quite literally risk life and limb to protect these shores from enemies domestic and foreign, and at times, such as the Pandemic Lockdown, are there to man
essential services.

“Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due,
customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honour to whom

(Romans 13:7)
